Very Fine Woven Flax Kete or Handbag of New Zealand Maori Origin

Be a little different this Summer with one of these charming Pacific Island purses or Ketes ! This is one of 11 different tapa, shell, and woven purses and ketes from a collection that we are now offering. I'm not certain of the Islands of origin as tapa work is done on most of the Pacific.....Fiji, Samoa, and Tonga are the major ones of note. The Ketes made from woven flax are likely to be of New Zealand Maori origin. All these items are Vintage ...not have some small wear signs usually. This Kete is an older one dating to around 1976 but it was not new at time of purchase even then. There are some wear signs.....handle strap broken and edge scuffing but the weaving is very fine and beautifully done. A real treasure...a Collectors item really.
