Ornate1909 Original Safety Bar Corker

This is one Big Beast of a Clamp Type Bar Mounted Cork Remover being not only large but heavy due to it being made of cast metal. This an ornate machine...typically Victorian in style....there is some loss or chipping of the silver or nickel plating and it also needs a new corkscrew to be fitted....I can supply a suitable screw piece. The Original Safety clamp mount bar type corkscrew was first registered in Britain in 1909 Registration No. 543083....the same as this one. The mechanical design of the corkscrew was first patented in England in 1894 by an American, R.B. Gilchrist of Chicago. The actual Original Safety Opener was manufactured by Gaskell & Chambers in Birmingham... production ceased in the early 20th century. This type of bar clamp opener are now getting scarce being popular as display fittings in Restaurants and Bars. This is 9.25" in length.
