This large shell necklace is from Papua New Guinea originally. You will note that there are two layers of TIGER COWRIE SHELLS back to back with very small shells used as spacers. The shells are threaded on nylon and there are in fact 44 of the larger Cowrie shells in total. Not an antique but probably around 30-40 years old or more. It is about 15 1/2" long.
