Stunning Georgian Period Engraving 'Hastings From The Castle Hill' Circa 1820

This is truly a wonderful period hand-coloured engraving showing Hastings as it was around 1820 -1840. Published by one C. GRAF of Great Castle Street, London. This artist and publisher was in business from 1828 through to about 1850...he moved to the Castle St address in 1832. This was framed or probably re-framed in Piccadilly by Henry Sotheran....Booksellers & Bookbinders, and Dealers in Engravings & Autographs....early in 1920's-30's era I think ( His Trade Sticker is on back). Phone number shows as REGENT 1150. HENRY SOTHERAN LTD are the longest established antiquarian booksellers in the world (Founded in York 1761). Now at 2-5 Sackville Street | Piccadilly | London.

This framed engraving is a good size at 16 1/2" x 12 1/2". A wonderful old engraving that probably should be removed and cleaned-up professionally to do it full justice, but an outstanding piece all the same. Some light reflection in photographs...happy to supply more pics if required.
