These came from someone who had lived in the Highlands of Papua New Guinea for over twenty years. I was told that the armbands were made especially for each young man when they reached manhood or warrior status and that they are only removed on the death of the warrior. We have six sets of these (sets of two...one for either arm) ...all are different...I would think that they are probably over all 40 - 50 years old but hard to tell as items age quickly in the tropical humidity of Papua New Guinea. Certainly they all show age and wear and smell of woodsmoke and dirt. Genuine hard to replace items.
