Iconic Haddon Sundblom COCA-COLA Santa Christmas Ad~Elves, Baby Dolls, Teddy Bear + More Toys! BACK COVER National Geographic Magazine Nov. 1953

Iconic and one of the most sought after of all the Haddon Sundblom Coca-Cola Santa Christmas ads, 'The Pause That Refreshes'. Haddon Sundblom was the first artist to give Santa a real face in advertising, painting advertising for Christmas from 1931-1964. Santa's Elves are working with Santa in his toy shop, Santa holding a hammer and ruler in his left hand and a frosty bottle of Coke in his right hand. One Elf is painting a sweet dolly's face, another climbs a ladder clutching a soft teddy in his arms. A third Elf stacks a block next to a Hobby Horse, and another works on a gingerbread house. A colorful train sits on the table, along with a plane and curly wood shavings. Santa is laughing and has been illustrated with one of the most beautiful white beards in memory. The ad is one side of the back cover of the November 1953 National Geographic magazine, and has a couple of tiny spots at the right bottom outside tip and light soil at the outside edges of the full margins, not at all affecting the image. It measures 7" x 10" and would be perfect matted and placed in a period frame. It is beyond wonderful, representing the Santa of our Christmas dreams. Shipped flat in a rigid sleeve and mailer for a safe journey.
