Highly collectible November, 1946 Textron Lingerie ad with dream-like artwork by recognized artist C.J. Sternberg in the earliest years of her career as an artist (26 years old!). Textron was considered 'high end' lingerie in those years, this ad for their 'Pink Angel' full slip of rayon satin and delicate lace. The theme of all of the 1946 Textron ads were interpretations of classical paintings, this one The Birth of Venus, in which the goddess Venus arises from a clam shell at the edge of the sea. Prints of Charlotte Joan Sternberg's later artwork sell for hundreds of dollars, and as her style changed over the years to a more Grandma Moses-Charles Wysocki American Heartland aesthetic, this is an opportunity to own a signed illustration created in her formative years. This full-page color ad is in Excellent condition, measuring 10 1/2" x 14". It has light wrinkling along the left border where it was removed from the magazine. It does not affect the print image and it will mat and frame beautifully. No cropping or trimming; image is limited by scanner table size only. Shipped flat in a rigid sleeve and mailer for a safe journey.
