Antique Embossed Unpostmarked Easter Postcard Hearty Easter Greetings Printed in Germany
Most of my postcards come from an estate in central Texas and are correspondence between a sister and friends to and from her brother, Elwyn Flowers from Chilton Texas. Great addition to a collection!
Hearty Easter Greetings is the sentiment on this old card. Earl 1900's. Embossed. Looks new, save the slight paper discoloration. There is a colorful rooster chasing or running along side of a young girl pulling a LARGE colored egg in cart with violet flowers above and below the egg. Very colorful card in great condition. The photos are with the card inside of a plastic sleeve for protection. The plastic sometimes makes the card appear smudged. This card is really in phenomenal condition to be over 100 years old.
Printed in Germany is on the back side of the card. This card was written on, but never stamped or postmarked or sent. Series 7590 is next to the Masonic type symbol on the bottom left side corner..........Card is in great condition. Lots of German writing on the upper left top back.
Antique Postcard collecting, also known as detiology, is one of the most popular collectible hobbies in America, Canada and Internationally today. There is such history in vintage postcards. They are virtual museums of the past. 100 years ago. How far we have come! Holding an old postcard can evoke memories of the past and can provide glimpses into our social history and our culture of the time periods long past, but still alive in the postcard. Wikipedia Definition of Deltiology: "Deltiology is the study and collection of postcards. Compared to philately, the identification of a postcard's place and time of production can often be an impossible task, due to the fact that postcards, unlike stamps, are produced in a decentralized, unregulated manner. For this reason, serious collectors may choose to limit their acquisitions to cards by specific artists and publishers, or by time and location."
These wonderful 5.5-inch x 3 5/8 inch pieces are also known also as a “penny post card” or a “picture post card,” have been collectibles since their 1890s inception.
