19th Century French Antique Directoire Period Commode

An elegantly simple chest of drawers made from solid oak and typical from the Directoire period at the end of the 18th century (The period of this regime (2 November 1795 until 10 November 1799), commonly known as the Directory (or Directoire) era, constitutes the second to last stage of the French Revolution.), featuring a straight façade providing a total of 4 drawers mounted with the original shield-shaped brass escutcheons. A few minor scratches can be seen here and there due to the age. Circa date 1799. Dimensions 33 ½"high/ 38 ½"wide/ 18 ¼"deep.
