Carved Shell Cameo Pin or Pendant in 800 Silver with Marcasites

Here is a superior quality vintage (ca. 1920's) shell cameo pin with a hinged bail. The carving is delicate and quite detailed, especially in the flowing hair. The woman's face is pretty with the features well-defined, and she is wearing a necklace. The cameo is Italian and was probably set in Italy as well, as it is 800 silver, Italy's silver standard at the time. There is a safety catch. This pin has nice curvature and is 1 1/4" X 1 5/8" X 1/4" thick. The cameo is prong-set into the silver frame, which is trimmed with a single row of marcasites. The pin is in excellent original condition.
