This unusual hand-painted ceramic pin dates from between 1890 and 1930, the era when ladies decorated china as a hobby. This pin is features a hand-painted water lily superimposed on a background suggesting the Florida Everglades. This is a commercial piece, possibly purchased as a souvenir of a Florida trip of many years ago. The ends are decorated with gold paint. The backing is brass with four prongs holding the china bit to it. The pin measures 1 1/2" long, 1/4" wide, and 1/8" thick. It is in excellent original condition.
