This small pottery platter is lozenge-shaped rather than oval; it may be an underliner for a covered vegetable dish. The platter is 10 1/2" long X 8" wide X 1" deep. The mark, that of the New Wharf Pottery Co. of England, dates from between 1890 and 1894; this platter in the "Waldorf" pattern dates from between those years. The platter is bright white with a very dark blue, heavily flowing design of sprays of roses. The center motif features a clover. The platter is in good, usable condition; it has a few scratches near the center and a tiny, old "chigger bite" chip on one edge. There is no crazing or discoloration; the platter displays well on a shelf.
