Sterling Silver Brooch with Banded Agate
This lovely sterling silver (not marked but tests 925) brooch features a beautiful Scottish banded agate polished smoothly and bezel-set by hand. The fittings (tube hinge, long pin bar, and C-catch) indicate an age of circa 1880-1900. The pin is in excellent condition with no modifications to the mount. There are two holes drilled into the back of the agate; these holes were probably there when the agate was set and may indicate that the stone was part of something else originally. The pin measures 1 3/8" X 1 3/4" and weighs .57 oz.
