Folk Art Box with Hearts for Mary

This whimsical American work box is about 60-80 years old. It is made of pine that has darkened attractively with age (the bottoms of the tray and box are pressed board). The design work is a combination of chip carving and pyrography (wood burning). The top features the name "Mary" in a banner above two chip carved hearts. Strawberry vines are an additional design element. This box is in excellent condition with all original hardware. Some screws have been replaced. The inner tray is lined with felt and has three compartments. One piece of molding surrounding the mirror is missing. The box was found in Wisconsin. It measures 13" X 9" X 6" tall. This box would be a great gift for a loved one named Mary.
