This "Dresden Plate" quilt from the Depression Era (ca 1930-1950) has some unusual features. The plates are of different sizes. They are arranged concentrically instead of in rows. But most unusually, a border has been attached to the center portion to enlarge the quilt. It has been cleverly done. One clue is that there is a blue section on the back that corresponds to the center medallion. This quilt has hand-pieced "plates" that are hand-appliqued to the ground fabric. The fabrics used are all early twentieth century and include housedress prints, chambrays, shirting, and other widely used cottons from the era. The quilting is by hand at 8-9 stitches per inch. This quilt is 100% cotton. It is currently clean and ready to use. It may be washed in the washing machine and dried in the dryer. The quilt measures 68" X 80." It is in excellent condition with no apparent wear except that it is very soft.
