This amazing, hand painted enamelled plate appears to be of the same era as other botanical plates made in England during the Aesthetic Period of the 19th century. It is reminiscent of Royal Doulton's Marigold pattern on first appearance. It also has a mid-eastern feel to it.
The border features styled petal forms to create a very geometric element and the interior pattern with its peaked wedges is what harkens to the Persian feel. Inside each of those wedges is a stylized flower form.
Clearly the cobalt blue and orange elements make this pattern 'pop'.
The plate is in excellent condition with only typical small-pattern crazing most noticeable on the reverse, but under magnification it can be seen on the front. Nothing to apologize for! This is a fabulous cabinet display plate or run a rail within a couple of feet of your ceiling and display all your beautiful plates there! That's how we used to display them in our shop and if I had an appropriate room to do it here, I sure would!
