935 Sterling Silver and Enamel Orchid Pin or Brooch - Deco Period
Unlike most of our German-made, Art-Deco period (20s-40s) pin of this type, this one is in shades of pale yellow to russet with touches of green. It is in excellent condition with enamel in amazingly good condition and with all marcasites bright. Just enough patina to give both shine and contrast.
The pin measures 2 5/8" x 2 1/2". Nicely layered to give a 3-dimensional, sculptural appearance. The pin back clasp is a rollover safety clasp.
The only mark is the '935' mark impressed near the tip of one of the petals (see photo which is upside down). 935 refers to 935/1000 parts pure silver and is actually a slightly higher grade then 'sterling' which is only 925/1000. This is typical of pre-WWII German-made silver items.
And here is a tip to make viewing our 1000+ items easier:
1. In left margin, select 'All Shop's Items'.
2. Directly above the top row of photos, (on the right side) change the 'View as:' selection to the other one (gallery view instead of list view).
3. Scroll to the bottom of the page. On the right side it shows 'Items per page:' - select 200.
You are done. Now instead of 50 pages to scroll through there are only 6 and you can quickly scan 200 thumbnails per page. Just clicking on the thumbnail will bring up the full description. Enjoy!
