Large Antique Volkstedt Jasperware Plaque with Beautiful Semi-nude and 6 Angels or Putti - Very, very 3-D

This extraordinary plaque features a very baroque scroll-y rim with numerous 3-D features. It is 2" deep!!

There are 6 playful putti, angels, and a fairy! There is a mask head which looks a bit like Shakespeare. The playing angels are playing pipes, strewing flowers, dancing, and one is even reading a letter to the beautiful diaphonously clad woman. Something for everyone!

The color is a deep olive green. The large size is 14" x 9".

The plaque, while in overall excellent condition (no missing fingers, toes, etc.) there is one chip on the left side rim edge. As you can see while studying the photos, it is really not noticeable from the front but can be seen from the backside (see black star shown next to it in the front and back).

It bears the Volkstedt starburst mark on the reverse as well as the typical hanging ring. It dates from ca. 1895-1906.

This plaque is being sold 'as is'. This is one of the best plaques we've carried in that it has multiple figures and shows action while set in a very ornate frame. In light of all that, we consider the chip relatively minor, however, it certainly has been factored in with the pricing. For example, if this plaque was in mint condition, it would be priced at the highest end - $800-1,000.00.

As many of my subscribers already know, we specialize in jasperware plaques and butterfly pins. Some of our other jasperware plaque listings show a photo with an array of plaques hung on a wall so you can see how they look displayed. We hope you will take the time to seek them out.

To make your viewing experience more pleasant (and efficient) you may wish to follow this viewing tip:

1. In left margin, select 'All Shop's Items'.

2. Directly above the top row of photos, (on the right side) change the 'View as:' selection to the other one (gallery view instead of list view).

3. Scroll to the bottom of the page. On the right side it shows 'Items per page:' - select 200.

You are done. Now instead of 50 pages to scroll through there are only 6 and you can quickly scan 200 thumbnails per page. Just clicking on the thumbnail will bring up the full description. Enjoy!
