Enamel on .800 Silver Florentine Italy Compact Faux Malachite

This compact was made in Italy and is filled with John Robert Powers powder with a puff with his name on it. In the 1920s John Robert Powers founded what is today's modern modelling industry and during that time beauty related products were marketed with his name.

This beautiful compact has enamelling meant to simulate malachite (coulda fooled us!) in laid in chased silver. This type of silver work is typical of that done in Florence Italy.

The compact closes snugly and is in excellent condition. It is large at 2 3/4" in diameter an 1/2" deep. It weighs 4 oz.
