This pitcher or creamer is the largest sized one we have in our mini-group of Schafer & Vater pitchers. One of the photos shows it photographed next to a "regular" sized creamer and you can see that this one is substantially larger.
The subject is that of a Chinese person (I think it's a man, but not sure) with his hair with a long queue which forms the handle of the pitcher. he is holding a large goose by its hind legs. The goose protests with a wide-open mouth which forms the spout.
The pitcher is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, repairs. There are a few black spots which are all under the glaze and obvious factory anomalies. The largest one is clearly visible on the goose in the first two photos.
The vivid orange robe provides a brilliant contrast with the black and white of the goose, hair, and other elements. Displays wonderfully.
Besides the Made in Germany mark clearly visible on the base, there is a very faint Schafer & Vater impressed hallmark.
It measures 5 1/4" x 5 1/4" (compared to the one next to it which is 3 1/2" x 4"). Made of porcelain.
The rareity of this subject and the size make this a very desireable S&V collectible. We are adding several other figural S&V pitchers so please make sure to view our others.
The last photo shows a group of our pitchers.
