Wonderful Necklace with Carved Chinese Cinnabar Pendant and Carved Beads

This necklace, without the pendant, measures 17" and features a toggle clasp. The pendant is mounted (prong set) on a brass backing and the clip shows the impressed "China" mark. The hinge of the clip allowed it to be securely and seamlessly strung to the beads. The China mark dates this to approximately 1880-1920.

The off-white beads appear to be carved ivory, but we think they are either bone, or possible even glass. They are a perfect contrast to the rich red cinnabar color of the carved beads in both color and size. The condition is excellent. The red carved beads measure 12mm and the pendant is 1 7/8" x 1 1/4".
