German Jasperware Jasper Ware Plaque Woman with Cupid or Angel

The ornate border features foliate designs with berries and scrolls. The subject - a beautiful young woman is kneeling on the ground smelling a flowering bush while being serenaded by an adorable angel playing a mandolin. There is also a hovering bird nearby and even a couple of butterflies overhead!

The plaque is in excellent condition with no damages whatsoever. It is stamped Germany on the back side and is done in the manner of Volkstedt or Schafer & Vater. We have had this plaque and its mate before. Those were incised on the top rim with the numbers 347 while these are not.

It measures approx. 7 1/4" x 5 3/8". The thickest part measures 1 3/4" (at the top). It has holes for hanging (currently there is a sturdy string that allows hanging immediately).

The last photo shows a grouping of jasperware plaques in several different colors, size, and shapes. It is shown to give you an idea of how wonderfully they can be mixed and matched to create an extraordinary display.
