Antique Royal Worcester Butterfly Handpainted Decorated Cup, Saucer, and Dessert Plate Trio
There is wonderful gold edging and trim - all of the elements - flowers, leaves, stems, and butterflies are edged and veined in gold as well. All handpainted decorations.
The condition is excellent with no chips, cracks, or repairs on the dessert plate or cup. The saucer and dessert plates have small patterned crazing while the cup does not. The saucer has a teeny chip on the bottom rim edge and in no way whatsoever affects the display ability of this set. All this has been considered and factored into the pricing.
The cup features a very nice round handle and has a shallow foot.
The saucer measures 5 3/8". The dessert plate measures 6 7/8". The cup is 2 1/8" high not counting the handle and 2 3/4" in diameter at the rim.
Both the plate and the saucer bear the puce Royal Worcester hallmark with a date code for 1882 and the pattern number W356. The cup however, was probably a replacement and is date coded to 1928 and does not have the W356 on the reverse. It is very likely that it was custom ordered as a replacement piece back in 1928.
