Sterling Butterfly Art Nouveau Period Butterfly Pin

This is a very unique pin of its type because it has a maker's name of "Hoffman" on the back. It is a tropical scene sealed behind a deep dome of glass. The sky and water feature the opalesent butterfly wings in shades of blues, purples and oranges (for the sun/moon and reflections).

The sterling silver frame is what dates it as an older, turn of the century, Art Nouveau period pin. Dark patina. Silver can be polished bright, but I do not recommend it. The patina has taken a very long time to establish and I think it would take away from the pin, but it is a matter of personal perference so once it is yours you can do what you please!

The pin measures approx. 1 1/2" x 1" x 1/4" high. The highly enlarged view will show that on the right side of the dome there is a chip. Viewing this head on while wearing it you will not see it. If anything, it looks like the curvature of the dome. One photo shows a black star near the chip.

Since originally listing this and now finding that there is this chip, we have reduced the price even further.
