This is a cute 14 1/2" Italian doll named `Danila', made in the mid 1960's by the Zanini & Zambelli Company, one of Italy's most popular Italian doll makers.
The label identifies her as: 'Danila 38 Mod. 382'. On her back is marked 'ITALY, Z.Z.'
Danila has not been displayed or handled. She arrived in the USA from the Canneto district of northern Italy. This region was historically known as Italy's toy center, its roots back to the 1880' .
A carnival mask maker, Luigi Furga Gornini, who converted his skills to doll making around the early 1900's founded this one and then other toy companies, including Zanini & Zambelli, were established there.
Danila is fully jointed, with vinyl head and arms. She has firm plastic body and legs. A real pretty angelic face and expression , blue sleep eyes with long, black eyelashes, rosy cheeks and lips and long rooted blonde hair.
She is wearing a brown felt dress with a white satin bow and flowers, white underwear, knee-high stockings and black patent leather shoes. On her hair she has a matching felt hair bow.
Her box is in very nice condition . The colors are still fresh and bright.
