This item is a gorgeous vanity powder jar bottom marked, "FRANCE" which dates the piece 1867-1921 according to, Kovel's New Dictionary Of Marks". The piece is 5 1/2" at its widest diameter by 2 3/4" tall with the cover on. The body of the piece has a mother of pearl like finish and the top has open pink and yellow rose blossoms with green leaves and intertwined thorny stems. The underside of the cover has a very small flea bit about 1/16" long and very shallow, and the rest of the piece is undamaged with no decoration wear of any type.
