Vintage 1940s Pale Blue Gabardine Western Cowboy VLV Shirt RAB S/M

Fabulous vintage late 1940s, early 1950s western shirt in a pale slate blue.

This has classic western peaked yokes in the front with a deep triple peak back yoke. From each of the two back side peaks are tucks that are open for 6", then are stitched in place for the next 6 and 3/4", then are open again for a superb fit.

This has saw-tooth pocket flaps with TWO pearl snaps over bound finished hidden pockets underneath on each side of the front.

This has quality Rau Klikit pearlized round snaps which are down the front placket, with three on each cuff WHICH IS ALSO PEAKED and has an extra snap on the sleeve placket.

The back yoke and collar are lined with champagne colored satin.

This is marked as 15.5 M, and it measures:

22" from underarm to underarm, for an approximate 44" chest, PLEASE ALLOW FOR EASE of MOVEMENT

17.5" across the back shoulders where the yoke meets the sleeve,

6" from neck point to shoulder point

24" from shoulder point to sleeve hem

29.5" from the center back of the neck to the shaped long tail hem.

21 3/4" around the (roomy) arms eye.

We recommend comparing these measurements to a shirt of your own that fits the way you like to determine fit.

This is stamped on the left side near the hem:

"15 1/2 M 373 2206 WASHFAST RAYON & ACETATE"

These are often referred to as gabardine shirts, and although it has the fabulous smooth hand and weight of one, this is not a true gabardine WEAVE, which is a twill (diagonal) weave.

Condition: Overall this is a sturdy, freshly laundered, ready-to-wear GREAT looking and very desirable classic western cowboy shirt; however, there is some very light oxidation under each arm, a light area just below the left front peak, and three very light areas near the right front yoke seam. These are very difficult to see, please see attached photographs (we shot them both inside and outside to try to get them to show up ). We are pricing with these issues in mind.

Also, there looks like there may have been a tag on the inside back yoke lining; there are no stitch holes, but it is slightly discolored, as if something was there before.

This shirt has all the classic makings of an H Bar C shirt, however without the actual tag or stamp, we can't say for sure.

These are the preferred shirt of Viva Las Vegas attendees, as well as Rockabilly bands, fans and collectors.
