This is an original, ornate back plate for a door knob from the Victorian era, circa 1895, suggested Eastlake design.
Measures 7 3/8" x 2", the plate is 1/8" thick.
We believe this to be cast brass. There is a number stamped in the back, either 03955 or 08955.
The design is unique in that it features a double key hole, with a swinging plate to cover the other, from bottom or top.
Beautiful patina. Excellent architectural salvage.
