Here is a breathtaking Millersburg carnival glass ice cream bowl in a glorious amethyst color in their "hanging cherries" pattern with scalloped rim, fluting on the outer edges, a rayed star on the back middle, and measuring approx. 10" across approx. 2 1/4" deep. Millersburg glass Co. was built by creative genius, John Fenton brother of Frank Fenton of Fenton Art Glass Co. who decided to strike out on his own. The company opened May 20, 1909 and declared bankruptcy in June 1911 and was sold in September of that year. At first John Fenton was making carnival glass with a satin finish using the Fenton process. After 7 months of experimentation a high gloss radium finish was introduced and was an instant success. The demise of Millersburg Glass was due to John's extravagant living and inability to pay his creditors. I believe this to actually be the very rare "Cherries Variant" pattern. This bowl really is in superb condition with a rich strong amethyst color and only some extremely minor manufacturing defects I.E. a few tiny "pimples". Buyer to pay exact postage and insurance.
