This set is, in a word, magnificent. Appearing unworn, this gorgeous ensemble is from the Edwardian Era and celebrates the style and fashion lines of Art Nouveau. It is the ultimate Downton Abbey ensemble.
Bust up to 40 inches, it is an extra large size.
This ALL SILK ensemble is an exquisite harmony of design, color and construction. The unworn, three piece set is a textile treasure.
Even more wonderful to find in this larger size! With a bust line up to 40 - 42.
The color palette is done in delicate sweet pea colors of pink and blue. The wide blue silk ribbon threaded through embroidered openings is luscious. The decorative buttons are covered in silk thread.
This all original ensemble includes a camisole top, over blouse and skirt. The set is shown with no under slip.
The camisole and over blouse have exquisitely embroidered French Knots and flowing lines of Art Nouveau design.
The silk is delicate and very fine. This is TISSUE SILK at it's finest. Only the center section of the camisole has very lightweight, silk charmeuse and still, it is as delicate as a cloud. Think of your most exquisite, sheer silk scarf.
The embroidery work is all hand done, in flowing, undulating lines of the Art Nouveau design period. The pieces have the most expert stitching. This ensemble is a symphony of unstructured elegance.
The over blouse with scooped neckline has a lovely flounce all around. All flounces have the MOST delicate edging of blue silk. It closes in the back with snaps.
The closure is lavishly decorated with the tiny faux buttons that match the dangling baubles on the front panel. These tiny little beads are covered with silk thread and are the most darling things you have ever seen.
There is a lavish work of embroidery at the center bottom, just above the dangles. This undulating hand work is done in blue with black highlights.
A WIDE blue silk ribbon is threaded through openings in the front and back. This ribbon is decorative and does not function to "hold in fullness". The ribbon finishes in a wide bow at the back.
The sleeves are straight cut with a pleated flounce at the cuff and more delicious embroidery. The finished hems are turned, with perforated accents.
The camisole or bandeau as it was called is a work of art. The straps, The top and bottom bands are of SHEER, pink illusion silk. The bands are highlighted with tiny French knots in the sweet pea blue.
The center section of pink silk, has embroidered wreaths of minuscule French knots and tiny flowers in pink and blue. An embroidered silk ribbon threads through the top and ties in center for adjustment of the neckline. There are a row of covered snaps for further closure.
The wide flounce at the bottom of the skirt is attached to the skirt with delicate hand work and decorated with blue French knot embroidery. The flounce is pleated the finished with turned and perforated edges. The skirt is unlined. Magnificent in it's simplicity.
The waist band of the skirt has elastic gathered to a casing in the BACK. The front is attached to a very narrow, self fabric waist band.

The set in near mint condition. As mentioned above, the set is unworn. *Please note: the elastic threading in the skirt waist is original to the set. Elastic has been used in clothing since 1820, this old original elastic has only a life of 20-30 years. It has lost it's "give." This is not from use, just natural loss. The blouse is in like new condition otherwise.
There is 1 pin hole (and I mean PIN HOLE ) in the neckline flounce of the blouse and one dark spot about 1/32 of an inch across.
The camisole is mint.
