This net dickie, is made with a net body and frothy lace front and collar. Bust 38, size extra large. Ideal item to add to your Downton Abbey collection. Very Lady Mary!
This is a one piece garment was popular in the early 1900's and was worn under suits or jackets during the Edwardian Era and into the mid to late 20s. Only the collar and lacy front was meant to show.
The body of the garment is made of netting with no adornment, as it would never show when worn. The lace front and collar are also made of the netting and are trimmed with straight and scalloped needle lace.
The front falls in a froth of gathered net and lace.
There are snaps down the front for closure. These are hidden in the folds of the lace when worn.
Measurements in inches: Bust 38, across hemline 42, arm hole openings 24, length from center back to bottom of lace is 21. The lace collar and lace down the front is 4 - 1/2 inches wide. Note these were meant to be worn loose.
A couple of the snaps have made rust marks inside the folds. (do not show when worn.). There are several small holes on the back of the collar and one under the lace in front. (pictured) and priced accordingly.
This is a strong piece and was meant to be starched stiff so the lace would stand out. Many fun years ahead for this piece.
