Splendid, cold spun rayon floor length evening gown by Kamehameha of Hawaii. Done in the late 30s early 40s. Measurements in inches: Bust 36, waist 28, Hip up to 40.
Established in Hawaii in 1936 this label is, THE NAME, in vintage Hawaiian rayon. This label has been going into collections for several decades and is becoming a very rare commodity.
This floor length evening gown is called a PAKE in Hawaii, referring to the design style. It features, a shaped neckline, loose fitting Princess seaming, WIDE set in sleeves that are split at the tapered points. The side seams of the long skirt are split as well. They are faced with contrasting green fabric, as are the sleeves.
The print is an, exotic display of bold tropical flowers that appear to be stylized orchids. (very Art Deco!) The foliage is fabulous. This is a continuous panel print in shades of green, golden yellow, coral and white:
The fabric is strong and the colors are vibrant with no fading. There are a few VERY light spots did not come out with the first dry cleaning. They won't even photograph. Perhaps a careful hand wash would remove them if they bother. Mild soap and warm water will not damage this gown. Dress shows very minor wear.
The embroidered label: Kamehameha made and styled in Hawaii, is one of the most sought after labels for collectors.
Measurements: Bust 36, waist 28, Hip up to 40, shoulder to hem 53.5, across the upper back is 16.5 inches. Sleeves are set in and cut wide. They taper to 23.5 inches at the hem. This is a medium to large in modern sizes.
Please check measurements against a similar garment you own that fits you well. This should fit on the loose side.
