Rare vintage sewing pattern from the late 30s by McCall for an elegant, demure evening gown. Size in this envelope for measurements in inches: Bust 36, waist 28, hip 38.
Pattern #3271 is dated 1939 and is under the McCall label (before the use of the McCall's) label.
Features of the one piece, floor length dress: Peter Pan collar, half sleeves gathered high at the shoulder & fitted at the cuff, extravagant full skirt gathered in three graduated tiers.
Front button placket is optional. Skirt attaches to the fitted bodice at the natural waistline. In BACK the bodice is just slightly lowered at the waist, where it attaches to the skirt.
Printed pattern is complete with instructions for choosing fabric, laying out the pattern, cutting, sewing and finishing the garments shown on the envelope.
This pattern was drafted the same year GONE WITH THE WIND was filmed. American fashion took on a profound Scarlett / Southern Belle for a short time. This pattern is reflective of designer details of the era / Hollywood inspired fashion.
