This vintage necklace is, in a word, exceptional. It features spectacular components, unique design, minty condition and is extra long and lavish.
Ideal for a roaring twenties Downton Abbey ensemble. My pictures can not do justice to this beautiful piece. Delightful gift idea for Valentine's day.
It is 34 inches end to end. There are no hooks or closures. It is meant to be wrapped, knotted, draped or worn hanging. The elaborate tassels are 3 & 1/2 inches long and 7/8 inches at the widest point.
This is strong, beautiful metal. The gold tone is buffed or treated to look like the classic "Russian Gold" finish seen in Joseff of Hollywood pieces. Very, very well crafted in an unusual design. It is not a lightweight! VERY substantial metal.
Amazingly, this necklace is unsigned. You will see after viewing the pictures there is no place for a signature plate. It is could be an unsigned Joseff of Hollywood.
It smacks of Miriam Haskell but, there is no hang tag. The designer may have worked at either or possibly BOTH houses. It is certainly from that era of over The Top EXTRAVAGANT design and execution.
The wonderful chain has a MARVELOUS cage at each end. The cages are intricate, elegant and detailed with swooping hearts, beading in the metal, Fleur-de-lis and graceful leaves.
Lavish tassels hang below the cages in a perfectly sublime end to this design. I cannot tell you how this necklace feels! It is so 1940s Hollywood. The chain tassels are the perfect weight, the perfect finish to this creation!
I've shown it on my mannequin being worn different ways, wrapped, knotted and hanging. This is a wonderful lariat!
ABOVE excellent condition, as mentioned.
