1914 Fashion Catalog W.W. I Gowns Dresses Hats Shoes Women's Children's

This wonderful catalog was issued by the Philipsborn clothing company who sold items exclusively by mail. It was printed for the spring and summer of 1914; the same year that World War II began. The cover is taken from a water color painting by C. Warde Traver (1870 - 1945). He is famous for paintings of beautiful women on pulp magazines.

There are 200 pages PACKED with black and white pictures of women and children's clothing. All are artist rendered; no photographs. A labor intensive process; these old catalogs are invaluable research material.

The book measures, 7 & 1/2" x 11". The cover is taken from a water color painting by C. Warde Traver (1870 - 1945). He is famous for paintings of beautiful women on pulp magazines.

Women's clothing comprises 95% the balance is for children's clothing. Wish we could order from the book! Imagine a lacy white late Edwardian blouse for .98 cents! Hats for women and children with amazing flowers, ribbons and feathers. Great shoes: button up, boots, slippers from fancy to everyday.

Page after page of shoes, stockings, lingerie: camisoles, Lacey nightgowns, slips and underskirts, and of course CORSETS galore. Stockings in silk, cotton fancy to functional. There are all kinds of undergarments from functional to GLAMOROUS!

You will see page after page of dresses; everything from the very basic for the "help" to exquisite designs for the fashionable woman of the day. There are suits, walking and entertaining ensembles. The coats are wonderful!

LOTS of skirts and blouses LOTS! Divine designs in lace and silk. My favorite pages are the hats. DROOL! There are also hat "blanks"; so you could by a basic hat and then add feathers, flowers and ribbons which of course could be ordered through the catalog.

This late Edwardian publication was the last Hurrah for the Gibson girl. She quickly left the scene when The world went to war just a few months after this book was published.

There are no missing pages or anything that would compromise reading of the text. The black and white drawings are all clear and crisp. The order page is even intact.

Cover has some color bleed along the bottom with chipping and a 1.5" tear at the bottom. Back cover has some chipping. First 5 pages have wrinkling. Covers are not securely attached to the spine. About 5 pages have pulled free of the binding. The book is complete. Back cover also has some wrinkling.
