Gorgeous Arts & Crafts Silk Art Embroidery Wall Hanging Panel Birds & Flowers

This beautiful piece is a wonderful example of the type of hand work that was done during the Arts & Crafts Period. The embroiderer used magenta, brown, pink, peach and orange silk thread to create the beautiful subtle shading of the flowers. The embroidery is done on a heavy ecru colored linen. The border looks to be embroidered with metallic thread. I don't think that this piece started out as a wall hanging. The fabric casing where a rod can go through looks to be much newer. It was probably a table cover at one time. It measures 32" X 43". The colors on the back of the piece are much brighter especially the birds. This may be due to fading or cleaning. There are stains on the background fabric but no holes, tears or repairs. If it is to be used as a wall hanging the casing needs to be sewn down in places or the whole piece can be removed.
