Early Mauchline Snuff, Monkey With Dog - Victorian

Before Mauchline, became a celebrated Scottish town of souvenir manufacturers it was renowned for on the quality of its wooden (usually sycamore) snuff boxes. This one is from about halfway through C19th. It remains in excellent condition, near air-tight and with its integral hinge in great order. Its purpose is in little doubt as much of its moisture-proofing remains in situ. Decorating its lid is a pen & ink drawing of a monkey teasing a tethered dog with its tail, and entitled "Don't You Wish You May Get It". Worldwide insured air shipping included in list price. Nothing extra to pay.
