Figural Etui; Miniature Lantern in Mahogany - Georgian/Regency

This 4 3/4" tall lantern was skillfully carved in mahogany from the solid, in the first quarter of C19th. Inside is concealed a delicate & delightful set of needleworking tools. These include a petite set of scissors, and a mahogany thread winder. In antique ivory are: a thimble, a needle case, a material piercer,and an ear scraper (to obtain wax for the thread). Contents and containing lantern are all excellent and undamaged. In fact this ancient needleworking accessory is in near museum condition.
