Stamp Box in Tunbridge Ware - Victorian

Stamp boxes were first introduced by Sir Rowland Hill in 1850. This early example, measuring 2 1/2" by 1 3/8" and 7/8" high was created before the introduction of an interior slope, between 1850 and 1875 is our estimate. With the word "Stamps" inlaid to the top, the box is highly decorative in the attractively created multi-wood mosaic from the Kentish town of Tunbridge. Condition and quality are both excellent. Worldwide insured air shipping included in list price. Nothing extra to pay
