Beautiful Victorian ornamental antique swing arm curtain rods with carved oak moulding. Two pairs. Stylized old-fashioned roses and leaves with a cross-hatched pattern background. The color appears white with a gray patina in the photos but the color is a creamy light goldenrod. The swing arm drapery rods were removed from a Victorian home in San Francisco.
The rods swing on wooden dowels. Each bracket has two holes for mounting to the wall. The back of the decorative rod has a flat metal rod running the length of the molding for hanging the drapery panel.
The curtain rods have been lightly cleaned. I have chosen not to remove the patina (accumulated dust, etc.) from the rods because some restorers/collectors prefer to retain the patina.
The wood frame molding was manufactured and sold by the H. Morell Company, London, UK. The company was established in 1860 and was one of the largest manufacturer and supplier to the trade of decorative wood frame moulding and room molding at the time.
Condition: Please refer to the photos to view the condition of each rod. One wall bracket is missing a small section of wood at the top edge of the wall bracket. This can be easily repaired. Two of the wooden rods are missing a section of the cross hatched ornamental background. The brackets have small streaks of blue wall paint along the back outer edge.
Carved wooden swing arm drapery rods are rare architectural finds and are an important aspect of restoration of Victorian homes.
Measurements: Ornamental Rod is 19 inches long and 2 inches wide. Metal curtain hanger is 15 ½ inches long. Bracket extends 3 3/4 inches from wall.
