Antique PRINT - 'Brier ROSES' ~ Victorian Chromolithograph c.1880s

This antique, artist-signed, colour lithograph depicts a bouquet of beautiful briar roses accompanying a love poem written in cursive script. The artist and author of the sentimental verse is noted late-19th Century, American writer and illustrator, Lida Clarkson.

This attractive, Victorian-era chromo is a colour plate from a disbound gift book published in New York by E.P. Dutton & Co. in 1882. The lithographer of this gorgeous, gilt-edged, bookplate print was Armstrong & Co. of Boston.

This romantic, colour litho measures 9 1/2" x 12 3/4" (approx.) (Its dimensions don't allow it to be completely accommodated by the scanner). This vintage print has a tissue guard, is printed on light cardstock and is blank on the reverse. The colours of this charming, decorative print are rich and vibrant. It is in very good condition with a modicum of the attendant signs of age & wear (i.e. faint tidemark on bottom edge) and is eminently suitable for matting & framing.
