A box of four blown mercury glass Christmas ornaments. made in Japan for Shiny Brite in the late 1940s and 1950s. Little three dimensional scenes or figures are inside the concave recesses or indents in the glass. The ornaments are about 2 inches diameter.
The red ornament has a trees in snow scene - bottle brush, pink spun cotton, and wired mercury glass bead "trees". The bright pink ornament has a white glittered reindeer with a sprig of white bottle brush type chenille. The darker magenta pink has a little cardboard house or cottage. The blue ornament has a fawn or reindeer figure - it looks like he's missing one tiny ear.
The ornaments have no breaks or chips. Most have wear to the silver glitter at the rims. One ornament has a minor scratch to the pink finish on the back, otherwise the finish is in good condition. The box was once sealed with old masking tape on two flaps, it's still present. It's marked A Shiny Brite Product, Glass Christmas Tree Ornaments, 50mm, No. 08504, 4 Pcs, Japan.
