These two circa 1920 tiny feather tree size blown glass Christmas ornaments were Japan's answer to German and French kugel ornaments. The glass isn't as heavy and the caps are more plain, but the ornaments are made in similar manner to traditional kugels, with the color in the glass rather than applied, the mercury silvering on the inside of the ornament, and the caps wired into the pike-less tops.
Both ornaments are 1-5/8 inch high keg or barrel shape, with an embossed star in circle design on both sides. The mercury silvering is shiny and intact on the silver ornament. The blue barrel is transparent from loss of the inner silvering. The metal caps slide a bit but are securely attached.
