Ancient Order of United Workmen (A O U W) – Massachusetts Fraternal Lodge 1898
The larger of these two buttons is dated February 22-23, 1898, and commemorates the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts. The shield and anchor symbol is in the center. I'm not sure how this button would be fastened, as it does not appear that there was a pin in the back. This button is 1-1/4 inch in diameter. There is some wear to the finish on the back edges, and a few small spots of rust on the front.
The smaller item is a lapel button, with the AOUW shield surrounded with a wreath of flowers. The top is celluloid, with a metal backing. It measures 5/8 inch in diameter, and is in good condition.
