Submarine Thomas A. Edison Launching, 1961 Commemorative Cover

This envelope was postmarked from Groton, Connecticut, on June 15, 1961, to celebrate the launching of the atomic submarine Thomas A. Edison, SSBN 610. The sub was built at the Electric Boat division of General Dynamics in Groton.

The envelope has the 4-cent Lincoln stamp. The envelope measures 6-1/2 by 3-5/8 inches and is in good condition. There are some postmark lines on the back, and part of the envelope glue has become unglued.

This item will be protectively packaged in a rigid plastic sleeve in a bubble envelope.
