"Tales of Hoffman", London Films Program, 1950 Opera and Ballet Movie

This is the program for the London Films production of "Tales of Hoffman" opera and ballet, premiered in 1951. The leading operatic role in this brilliant film was played by Robert Rounseville, and ballet dancers included Moira Shearer, Leonide Massine, Robert Helpmann and Ludmilla Tcherina. Sir Thomas Beecham conducted the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

The cover illustration is by Hein Hakroth, German artist and designer, and winner of an Academy Award for his art direction on "The Red Shoes". There are four full-page color photographs in this program, and numerous black-and-white photos of the major players in costume, plus the producers, set designer and conductor. The full cast is listed on the first page.

The booklet measures 8-1/8 by 10-1/2 inches, and contains 20 pages. Overall condition is good, however there is wear on the edges, two spots on the back cover, and the stapled spine has wear and a 2-inch partial separation.

This item will be packaged with a backing board and plastic sleeve. Insurance may be declined if not desired.
