Signed Nolte or Notte, which might be either the artist or the name of the decorated military man in the painting, or, lacking that, might note the artist of an original large painting of this officer. The gentleman is surely one of Napoleon's officers, and were I an expert in military or Napoleonic insignia and medals, I'm sure I could tell you what this man's rank and decorations tell us, as well. But I'm going to have to depend on you to email if you have such info. (Thanks!). A superb old painting on thin natural wafer wafer, we've taken it from the frame for scan so you can fully appreciate the amazing detail on this smal work of art. Original frame and convex polished glass are both original to this painting. One screw on the metal back mounting is now missing - somewhere deep down inside the cusions of one of our overstuffed chairs. I will search and search and try to locate it, but at listing it is elusive. Otherwise, this one is pristine.
Excellent condition throughout. A fabulous painting, a super and interesting subject - RARE military officer and Napoleonic era treasure.
