Antique Grand Tour Micro Mosaic Plaque, 5 Views of Rome - Extra large paperweight, superb micromosaics!
St. Peter's Bailica and St/ Peter's Square, the Bernini Columns, Obelisk The Roman Forum The Pantheon The Coliseum Capitoline Hill (Currently Museums)
This quality and type of item is almost assuredly from the Vatican Workshops, and represents some of the finest mosaics of its time. The detail in this set is quite astounding, with the fee of the water of the St. Peter's fountains, shading to give 3-D feel to them, and best of all, the experience of having actually 'been there, seen that', in Victorian times. The Victorians were grand collectors of souvenirs, being history's first true 'tourists'. The wealthier among the newly industrialized and industrializing countries traveled and brought home all they could as spoils of their experiences 'abroad'. And ever so much better than a t-shirt from China with an iron-on of the Pope, herein lies your own fine souvenir of your own visit to Rome. The Pantheon will always remain one of my favorite sights, and sites. And the magic that is 'Rome' is well remembered here.
Very good condition, the micromosaics are all excellent, not a disruption or even a single tiny tesserae missing or raised, chipped. There are no cracks in the large paperweight plaque, and while there are a few light imperfections to the outer rim, they are minimal and not enough to detract from your enjoyment of this superb piece. Our photos and scans give you full view, and remember, we always end the deal with a VERY satisfied customer, guaranteed!
