Well, this is something we don't often see - the set appears to have never been used and comes to us in the original leather presentation box which also looks just pristine. I think this one was well treasured and never used by the look of it, or certainly used little if at all. The French marks are found on each item, so we know that the silver is of French origin and the boar's head profile mark is the guarantee for .800/1000 pure silver, which is most often used in sewing and other smallish tools, implements because it is stronger than the higher .950/1000 pure silver, and it holds up better for these kinds of tools. There are 2 pairs of scissors, the original needle case and thimble and bodkin (ribbon needle), and a stiletto and crochet hook, all housed in their perfect fittings within this fine case. One that will be as treasured for the next century as it was for the last century plus. Very French motif of cross ribbon border, crossed torches carried through each piece in this lovely old set. None finer. We see it was originally marketed through the silversmith Vivier,. Surely someone's Grand Tour souvenir, a gift for someone back at home? Fabulous!

Very good to excellent condition throughout, appears to have never been used at all but remains housed in the pristine leather case, all in fine form. No dents or damage to report. The silversmith is Vivier of Angouleme, France and the silver is marked with the French boar's head (shown) which guarantees .800/1000 pure silver.
