Fine Antique French Sterling Silver 11" Tureen or Legumier, Covered Serving Dish

Gorgeous & rare antique French mid-late 1800s hallmarked sterling silver 10 3/4" covered tureen, legumier or serving dish with simple yet elegant style, foliate accented handles and beautiful, large floral finial! A fine large serving dish, the bowl has an impressive 8 1/4" diameter and the piece stands 6" tall with that marvelous finial! Masterfully crafted old French sterling silver, the piece weighs a HEAVY 35.4 troy ounces or 1102 grams total (lid & base) and just that finial alone is 128 grams! The French Minerve or Minerva hallmark on the lid and bowl, the tiny number "1" within those marks designates it as being in .950 silver (95% pure and higher than the .925 standard for sterling silver). Silversmith marks are for Alexandre-Auguste Turquet, Paris circa 1855-1882. A beautiful piece, one you'll love to use whenever possible! We have one of the finest collections of antique French sterling silver so be sure to browse some while you're with us (you won't regret it). Thanks!

Very good-excellent condition. A tiny dimple or two possible but, as you can see, there are no dents, no damage or repairs to note. An exceptional old French sterling silver serving dish, don't miss it! See pictures for measurements.
